Roles we are looking for
We have a fantastic group of adults involved with the Group, from those who work with young people to those behind the scenes; but we would always welcome others to join us.
The group has a number of roles, both on weekly nights and working more independently. If something below interests you, just get in touch for a conversation with no obligation. For those roles which are working in sections, we normally suggest a 4 week trial to see what it's like. There is plenty of training & support available.

Some more detail |
Beavers Team members |
Join our brilliant Beavers Team to support our section for 6-8 year olds. The section meets on a Monday in the early evening. |
Cubs Team members |
Join our fabulous Cubs Team to support our section for 8-10 year olds. The section meets on a Tuesday in the early evening. |

Join our amazing Scouts Team to support our section for 10-14 year olds. The section meets on Fridays in the evening. |
Explorer Team members |
Join the team running our oldest section; working with our 14 to 18 year olds on a Wednesday evening. |
HQ Heroes |
A role you can make yours, and based around your own schedule. Taking a regular look into the HQ to help keep it on track - from running a mop over the kitchen to sorting consumables. A really flexible role. |
Scout Activity Support Unit Team Member |
This is an 18+ group of Scouting supporters in non-uniformed roles. We view this as more of a social section within Scouting. The sort of section that gets all parents together to arrange social events as well as helping out around the Group. This may be as specialist activity instructors, or volunteers able to help with maintenance, fundraising and management tasks. Contact our SASU Manager. |
Transport Commander |
Could you look after our vehicles? We need someone to make sure they’re all taxed, MOT’d, maintained and insured and manage bookings. They’ll need a clean from time to time too. |
Independent Examiner |
A reviewer of accounts. Would suit a qualified accountant. |
Webmaster |
To support the Group's web presence here and at xmastrees.org.uk. |
Money making extraordinaire |
Our annual Christmas tree sale is the Group’s only fundraising event. It has become hugely successful and enables the Group to heavily subsidise events and activities your children enjoy. We need help with planning, marketing, site set up, running the rota, running the website and fulfilling online orders, IT support, ad-hoc tasks. |
The influencer |
Could you manage and update our social media accounts? Help us share all the good stuff we get up to, including promoting our annual Christmas tree sale. |
The socialite |
Can you organise social events that inspire the whole family? Could you help us to organise a couple of events a year? We need you to help our socials team to stage fun and family friendly events that bring everyone together. So whether it’s bingo, a quiz night or a barn dance the choice is yours! |
The thing we have missed…. |
Perhaps you have a great idea that we have missed. Something that could expand our ability to help young people in our community develop skills for life and have a positive impact on the world around them. |
Anything take your fancy? Please drop us a note.
