Our Explorer Unit
Our Explorer Unit offers challenge and adventure for young people (both male and female) aged between 14 and 18 years old.
The activities Explorer Scouting offers include: Mountaineering, Climbing, Caving, Canoeing, Sailing, Powerboating, Windsurfing, Karting, Mountain biking, Skiing and much more. All the activities are run by skilled Leaders who will help you to have the time of your life!
Explorer Scouts is designed to be flexible to fit into the commitments you have at school, college, work and outside scouting. If you have a lot on at school during exams, then Explorer Scouts can take a back seat, and you may miss several meetings. You will still be kept in touch with what’s goin on so that you can join in again when you have more time. For more information about Explorer Scouting, including the award scheme, visit scouts.org.uk/explorers.
Explorers meet at the HQ every Wednesday between 1930-2100.

Joining our Explorer Scout Unit
We welcome new members to a no obligation free trial to make sure Explorers is for them. Once a young person has been in a section for 6-8 weeks, they will be asked if they want to be invested in order to become a full member of the Troop. This will involve learning a bit about Scouting, buying a uniform and making a Promise.
We like to invest our new members in unusual locations, so its a moment they'll never forget. We've done investitures in a swimming pool whilst scuba diving, half way down an abseiling tower and in the middle the dodgems at the fair!

Where the badges go
Our Explorers don't often wear their Uniforms - they save them, clean and neatly ironed, at home in their wardrobes. At least that's what they tell me.
