Our Beaver Colony
Easily recognised by their distinctive turquoise sweatshirts, our Beaver Scouts enjoy making friends, playing games, going on visits and helping others.
Our Beaver Colony is for young people (male or female) aged between six and eight years old. Young people can join Beaver Scouts in the three months leading up to their sixth birthday, and they can move up to Cubs between the ages of eight and eight years six months. For more information about Beavers, including the award scheme, visit scouts.org.uk/beavers.

Joining Beavers
We welcome new members to a trial period to make sure Beavers is for them. Once a young person has been in a section for 6-8 weeks, they will be asked if they want to be invested in order to become a full member of the Colony. This will involve learning a bit about Scouting, buying a uniform and making a Promise.
The Beaver Scout Promise is: I promise to do my best To be kind and helpful And to love God. |
Parents will always be invited to attend their child’s investiture, which usually takes place at either the beginning or the end of an evening meeting. When your child is invested, they will be presented with a 4th Ewell scarf and a set of badges to go on their uniform. The diagrams below show where these badges should go.
