Fundraising
4th Ewell (Nonsuch) Scout Group is a registered charity (number 305718). We do not receive any form of central funding and as such we must raise funds to support the provision of scouting. Our main sources of income currently come from hall hires and the phone mast which is on our site. These sources cover the general running costs and maintenance of our HQ and vehicles. Should equipment or vehicles need replacing, additional fundraising needs to take place to support this.
Christmas tree sales
Every year we hold a Christmas tree sale over two weekends in December. The campaign has been very successful and enabled the Group to purchase a new marquee, mess tent and other equipment. For more information about our Christmas tree sale please see our dedicated website.
Subscriptions
We charge a subscription as a membership fee for being part of 4th Ewell. This goes towards the running of the section programme and also cover paying a capitation to the Scout Movement which provides insurance cover and supports many essential services at District, County and National levels. Please note that these subscriptions do not go towards the running of the Group Headquarters, its equipment or rolling stock, which are managed by the Group Executive Committee.
Gift aid
We use the Government’s Gift Aid scheme to claim back the tax paid on money you earned to pay us for subs. This boosts our income by 28p for every £1 of subscriptions paid, and makes a big difference to our income. To be eligible for this, parents must ensure that they have paid more in income tax than we are going to claim back - about £35 per year.
