Good Behaviour Policy and Code of Conduct
In line with Scout Association recommendations and to promote good behaviour 4th Ewell (Nonsuch) Scout Group has implemented a Good Behaviour policy and Code of Conduct. This bares similarities to similar schemes operated in local schools. The term ‘Scout’ used below refers to members of any section.
Our good behaviour policy and Code of Conduct will:
In order to help us promote good behaviour we ask for all parents to help and support the Leaders in implementing the Code of Conduct. To do this I would ask that you note the following actions we may take if a Scout breaches the Code of Conduct:
Our good behaviour policy and Code of Conduct will:
- Allow all Scouts and Leaders to take part in a programme which is both challenging and fun
- Ensure that the atmosphere in the Group is supportive of all member and Leaders
- Stop members from taking part in an activities where they could be a danger to themselves or others
In order to help us promote good behaviour we ask for all parents to help and support the Leaders in implementing the Code of Conduct. To do this I would ask that you note the following actions we may take if a Scout breaches the Code of Conduct:
- We will warn members that their behaviour (physical or verbal) is inappropriate and warn them that if it happens again they will be asked to sit out of the activity.
- We will ask a Scout to spend some time outside to cool off and consider their actions.
- If this happens on multiple occasions we will receive a ‘yellow card’ to the individual for that evening. If their behaviour continues or warrants further punishment they will receive a red card and we will ask you to collect your Son or Daughter from the activity immediately.
- For very serious or repeated braches of the code of Conduct we will not allow your Son or Daughter to participate in an activity or camp or ask them to miss a week.
- For extremely serious or for continued breaches of the Code of Conduct the Leadership team will ask for your cooperation in putting in place a corrective action plan. We will work with the Group Scout Leader and District Commissioner and in exceptional circumstances a breach may include exclusion from Scouting.

Our Anti-Bullying Code
- We DO have respect for everyone as individuals, whatever their differences.
- We DO take bullying seriously – it’s not ‘just a bit of fun’.
- We DON’T accept any bullying behaviour – name-calling, physical violence, threats, being left out, spreading nasty rumours either in person or by text and email, or any other way of making people feel bad.
- We DO report any bullying we see, whoever it’s aimed at. It should be reported to a Leader or someone else we trust like our Patrol Leader.
- We DO take someone seriously if they tell us they’re being bullied, and we also don’t watch others being bullied without doing something.
- We DON’T just put up with bullying. We DO make sure something is done about it.
