Our COVID-19 Arrangements
As some of the government restrictions around the COVID-19 pandemic begin to be relaxed, we’re starting to plan for how we’ll be able to return to face-to-face Scouts activities at 4th Ewell. Our restarting plans will follow all government rules and guidance from Scouts’ UKHQ. Our priority is to keep young people and adults safe.

An outline of how we will operate, following Scouts’ ‘COVID Code’:
- New control measures will be in place for all activities
- Additional hygiene measures will be put in place
- Social distancing will be observed
- Group sizes will be limited
Arrival and departure arrangements:
- Initially we will be meeting outside only, at the Scout HQ, in local parks and other open areas (e.g. Nonsuch Park)
- Group sizes will be limited, we are currently limited to 15 people , so we may run several groups separately at the same time. Each may have their own arrival and departure times and locations.
- Details will be sent out via OSM, please let us know your plans so we can ensure Groups sizes are not exceeded.
- Please drop off and collect swiftly to help aid congestion and make our lives easier receiving and returning your children
Hand sanitisation, hygiene and personal protective equipment:
- Hand Sanitiser will be available at the HQ but we ask each member to bring their own small bottle of hand sanitiser - to be used at the start, during and end of each session.
- Each member should also bring their own drinks bottle clearly named - and not shared with anyone else.
- We ask that each child/adult brings their own face covering in case of emergency and we need to administer first aid without adhering to social distancing rules. We will not normally ask anyone to wear face masks at section meetings unless there is an emergency.
- We suggest the above items are brought and kept in a small backpack or bag - to ensure nothing gets lost or used by someone else.
- First Aid kits will be available for each Group, including PPE.
Social distancing:
- Activities and games will be arranged to that current social distance guidance will be adhered to.
- We will be asking everyone to respect each other’s space and observe social distancing rules.
- It should be noted that not all locations we will be visiting will have toilets, so please ensure your child uses the toilet at home before you arrive at that evening's meeting point
- Where equipment is used it should not be shared and will be cleaned or unused for 72 hours as appropriate.
- Full details of our approved Covid-19 return to Scouting Risk Assessment - See below.
- The Group Response Policy is also attached
- Before attending we will need everyone to confirm that you understand the new measures in place and are happy for your child to resume coming to outdoor meetings.
- An event invitation will be sent out from OSM to confirm agreement to return to face to face Scouting.
- Each section will also send a weekly invitation to find out if your child is attending, PLEASE, PLEASE respond with a yes or no, so we can plan groups. Let me be clear. If you do not reply to the weekly email invitation, the section leader in charge has every right to refuse attendance and can request they are sent home. Planning this is hard enough without unplanned extras arriving. So please respond to the invites.
- If anyone has COVID-19 symptoms, they MUST NOT attend section meetings
- If anyone is vulnerable/shielding they should not attend section meetings
- All members personal information MUST be updated before we return in September, including disabilities, medical and allergies. It is important to let us know if your child has anyone learning or behavioral issues, this is purely to help us be aware and ensure that your child is helped where needed. All disclosures in OSM are kept confidential.
